A-Z of Holiday Information
It is our aim to give you a balanced view of each destination and featured hotel to enable you to choose the most appropriate arrangements to meet your personal needs. Please read this guide carefully as the information given will be taken in conjunction with the Fair Trading Agreement to form the basis of the contract between us.
A
Accommodation
> Accommodation descriptions are accurate at the time of
updating this website and you will be informed of any
significant changes either at the time of booking or when
known. We have added our own ratings for your guidance.
> Room categories are named by the individual hotelier and
must be read in context. The difference between
'Standard', 'Superior' and 'Deluxe', for example, may simply
be a matter of location.
> Unless specifically shown as being free or complimentary
a charge may be made for some of the facilities or services
described.
> All holidays without international flights are subject to
£20 per adult supplement.
Airport Taxes
>In most instances taxes are pre-collected and have been
incorporated into panel pricing.
>On multi-centre holidays, including the Caribbean, a local
tax may be payable on departure.
> Sometimes a departure tax payable locally becomes pre-payable.
In such instances you will be informed and
payment will be made to us in the UK.
> Airport taxes, security charges etc. are subject to change
without prior notice.
All Inclusive
> The 'all-inclusive' package commences at the time of room
check-in and ceases at the time of room checkout on the
day of your scheduled departure. A supplementary charge,
payable locally, may be made in the event of any afternoon
or evening transfer to cover the provision of meals, drinks
and resort facilities post checkout.
> In some instances identification wristbands, or similar,
may need to be worn.
> Some local restrictions may apply e.g.: mini-bar items, room
service and menu exclusions. For full details please see the
individual hotel descriptions.
B
Baggage Allowance
>This will be shown on your air tickets. On transatlantic
flights the allowance is usually two pieces weighing not
more than 23kg each in economy class. Some airlines offer
a lower allowance than the average on certain routes.
Please check with the airline concerned before travel.
> Airlines normally allow only one small piece of cabin
baggage and this may be included in your total weight
allowance. For security reasons sharp objects cannot be
carried as hand baggage.
> Carriage of excess baggage is at the airlines discretion and
often only on payment of an appropriate fee.
Brochure Accuracy
>Every care has been taken to ensure that the facts in this
brochure are correct at the time of printing. We do,
however, advise you to contact us direct, or through your
travel agent, before booking for up to date information.
> The description of facilities is those that are normally
available. It is possible that certain facilities may be closed
temporarily, or even permanently, or simply are
unavailable for whatever reason, including maintenance
or during periods of low occupancy.
> Not all services and facilities listed are free of charge
unless clearly shown as such.
C
Changes by Us
> When we are told of any significant changes to your holiday arrangements e.g.: flight timings, hotel closure, tour itinerary change we will inform you at the time of booking, or if you have already booked your holiday, as soon as is reasonably possible thereafter. Please see Booking Conditions for available options in the event of such changes arising.
Changes by You
> If, after confirming your holiday, you wish to make any changes we will always endeavour to help. Please note that we charge a non-refundable amendment fee of £25 per person per amendment and there may be additional charges imposed by our suppliers, especially airlines. Please see Booking Conditions for full details.
Check-in/Check-out
> In most cases your accommodation will be made available to you on arrival from 3pm. Unless counted as a night's accommodation, you will be asked to vacate your room on departure by midday. Courtesy rooms for your use may be available, albeit at an extra charge, payable locally.
Children
> Child costs or reductions are shown in each price panel
and apply to children under 12 years of age on the date of
their return travel to the UK when sharing a room with
two adults.
> In some hotels children must share existing bedding, in
others foldaway/sofa beds will be provided.
> Infants who reach the age of two years while on holiday
must be considered a child. Infants under two years of age
pay £120 but are not provided with an aircraft seat or
baggage allowance.
> Any charges for cots and meals are payable locally.
Complaints in Resort
> We make every effort to ensure that you have a troublefree holiday. Should you have cause for dissatisfaction during your holiday you must inform our local representative immediately who will do their best to rectify the matter.
Credit Card Charge
> All balances paid directly to Jetlife by credit cards are subject to a 2% surcharge
D
Data Protection Policy
> To ensure that your holiday runs smoothly, we (and your Travel Agent, if you used one) need to use information such as your name and address, special needs, dietary requirements etc. We will apply appropriate security measures to protect this data, however, we must pass it to suppliers of your travel arrangements, including airlines, hotels and transport companies. We may also supply it to security or credit checking companies and to public authorities such as customs and immigration. We will only pass data to people responsible for your travel arrangements.
Dress Code
> Customer demand results in the vast majority of hotels applying a dress code. In beach resorts this means casual by day, smart/casual by night. No shorts, denims or singlets in the restaurant at night.
E
Emergency Contact
> In the event of an emergency whilst you are on holiday you should contact our local representatives.
Extra Occupancy
> Unless otherwise stated a third, or fourth, person occupying a room will be accommodated in existing bedding, or a foldaway/sofa bed. It is unlikely that such accommodation will be large enough to additionally accommodate a cot for an infant.
F
Flying
> Remember, due to seating configuration airlines generally
define adjacent seats to include those adjoining but
across the aisle from each other.
> Do not assume that your party will automatically be
allocated seats together on the aircraft.
> It is common practice for scheduled carriers to use a codeshare
system, which may involve passengers flying with a
partner airline.
> Airline schedules may vary and an unexpected change of
aircraft type may become necessary.
> A direct flight is one where you do not have to change
planes. It does not mean it is non-stop.
> Due to airline policy most flights will be non-smoking,
some may not serve alcohol.
> Specific instructions relating to your air travel
arrangements will be sent with your tickets. We strongly
recommend, if booking domestic connections
independently, that you purchase a flexible ticket in the
event of a time change or delay affecting your
international flight.
> Delays, for whatever reason, are the responsibility of the
airline and subject to their conditions of contract. Please
see Booking Conditions.
> We cannot accept any loss arising out of missed
connections, changes or cancellations to international
flights unless booked by us as part of the holiday package.
FREE Night Offers
> This offer is displayed in the features throughout this
website.
> Unless otherwise stated the entire duration of nights
spent in resort must be wholly completed within the
dates shown to qualify.
> There may be a charge for compulsory meals payable
locally direct to the hotel. This is your responsibility.
H
Health
> For some countries a valid certificate of vaccination
against certain diseases may be recommended or
required by Immigration authorities. Information
displayed on the destination introduction page is accurate
at the time of publication, however, requirements change
and it is your responsibility to confirm health
requirements for yourself. Please allow sufficient time.
Consult your GP.
> Each traveller is responsible for ensuring that their own
travel documents are in order for the countries to be
visited.
> It is your responsibility to ensure that you are fit to travel.
If appropriate please ensure that you carry enough
medication in your hand luggage, as some medicines may
be unavailable locally.
> We recommend that you obtain a copy of the leaflet T5
published by the Department of Health that is available
from most Post Offices.
> Pregnancy note - airline regulations do vary, but many
airlines will refuse permission to fly women who will be 28
or more weeks into pregnancy on the date of return travel,
unless you have a letter from your doctor when you may
fly up to 36 weeks into pregnancy. Obtain clearance to
travel from your doctor and, if in doubt, check with the
airlines.
> Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) is a condition that has the
potential to affect all travellers regardless of mode of
transport or class of travel. Recent surgery, previous
occurrence of DVT and a family history of DVT are among
the factors that may increase your susceptibility to the
condition. If you are concerned about travelling then you
are advised to contact your GP before you depart. We also
advise that you read any in-flight exercise tips featured in
the airlines on board magazine.
Hotel Gradings
> We have categorised our hotels on quality and facilities for your guidance. This is based on customer feedback, our knowledge and years of experience. Standards can vary from country to country. As you would expect gradings can and do change subject to performance.

Hurricanes
> The Caribbean is in the tropics. Unfortunately tropical weather patterns are prone to seasonal extremes. While the climate is, generally, agreeable year-round (see Weather, below) tropical depressions, tropical storms and, possibly, Hurricanes are a feature during the summer months, generally between June and November. Should your travel arrangements be impacted by any of the above, Jetlife will endeavour to provide practical support, however, such occurrences are 'force majeure' and we cannot accept any responsibility for matters arising therefrom.
I
Insurance
> DO NOT TRAVEL WITHOUT IT. You must have valid travel insurance. Our recommended policy is comprehensive and ensures peace of mind. Please give details of comparable cover if you choose not to take our policy. Remember, you must be adequately insured.

Local Agents
> Jetlife has a local representative in each destination (except the Boutique Islands of the Caribbean) who is appointed to represent us for your requirements during your holiday. They provide a Meet and Greet Service, organise transfers, regular meetings at the hotels, excursion services and a 24-hour emergency service. Please note that this service does not apply to Sandals Resorts, Beaches Resorts, SuperClubs Resorts, Anse Chastanet (St Lucia) and Ladera (St Lucia) where the excellent Hotel Guest Relations Managers act as your point of contact. On the Boutique Islands, our carefully selected hotels act on our behalf.
Local Tours and Sightseeing
> Jetlife can only accept responsibility for excursions booked through our agents or representatives.
M
Meals
> If you have booked half board this is defined as breakfast
and dinner. They are generally based on a set menu or
buffet system. Such meals are usually available in the
main restaurant(s) and not speciality restaurants.
> Depending on the flight timings to your resort or tour,
those who have booked meals may lose one due to the
time of arrival at their hotel.
> To celebrate festive occasions many hotels host gala
events, usually a dinner during the Christmas/New Year
period. Some are simple affairs, others more elaborate.
There may be an additional charge for this.
N
Nights in Hotel
> The 'number of nights' referred to in each price panel refers to the number of nights accommodation reserved for you in your hotel.
O
Overbooking
> All bookings will be confirmed with the supplier; however, on occasions an airline/hotel may subsequently overbook. Should this happen, through no fault of our own, we will always endeavour to make alternative arrangements. Such arrangements are dependent on local circumstances and in this respect the Company's liability is limited in accordance with the Booking Conditions.
P
Passports & Visas
> All citizens of the United Kingdom and the republic of
Ireland require a ten-year passport (valid for 6 months after the completion of any journey).
Infants must also have their own passport with photograph - there is an exemption for children
aged less than 16 years included on parent's passports before 5 Oct '98. Visas may be required.
> Please note, the above child exemption does not apply when
travelling to the USA. Each person must have their own machine readable passport.
> It is your responsibility to check the latest requirements
with the appropriate authority before travelling.
> Nationals of other countries should check entry requirements
with the relevant Embassy or High Commission.
> Clients staying more than 30 days in one country may require a
visa not mentioned in our brochure.

clarification are advised to call the US Embassy's Live
Operator Information Service 0904 245 0100 (calls
charged at £1.30 per minute) or visit the US Embassy
website on www.usembassy.org.uk

> The holiday price as quoted at the time of booking, at which time your deposit will be taken, will be confirmed as definite, subject to surcharges as detailed in the Booking Conditions.
R
Resort Development
> We have no control over building works arising from a resort's growth in popularity and we are unable to anticipate the speed or the extent to which such development may occur. If we learn of specific developments at or close to your accommodation, which are likely to affect the enjoyment of your holiday, then we will do our best to contact you before departure. For the options relating to any significant change please see the Booking Conditions.
Resort Transfers
> In most destinations you will be transferred between the airport and your accommodation by minibus or coach and such transfers may involve calling at other hotels en route to your destination.
S
Safety Matters
> Non-brochured, tailor-made accommodation booked to
meet individual requests will not have been
inspected/checked.
> Baggage Security Checks at airports now also includes
opening luggage after check in and therefore leaving
bags unlocked will avoid the potential need for them to
be opened forcibly.
Single Rooms
> All prices are based on occupancy of a twin or double-bedded room unless otherwise specified.
Special Needs
> We appreciate that clients with special needs have specific requirements that must be met to ensure a successful holiday. Please ask for our Special Needs form before making your holiday booking in order that we can assess your personal requirements. We will do our best to find a holiday to suit you, although it should be noted that we might not be able to provide the holiday of your choice.
Special Requests
> If you have any special requests, such as vegetarian meals, airline seats, etc please advise us at the time of booking. We shall do our best to meet your request but we cannot guarantee that they will be provided. Any failure to meet special requests will not be a breach of contract on our part.
T
Tailor-made
> All our featured destinations offer you the option to be flexible with your holiday. You can usually select the day of travel and the duration of holiday.
Tickets and Departure Information
> Documentation will be dispatched after receipt of
payment, around two to three weeks ahead of travel.
> Please check flight timings carefully, they may have
changed since booking. Also check all names are spelt
correctly on the documentation as they appear on your
passport, as this affects the validity of your tickets.
Tours
> Local, experienced English-speaking guides accompany
all tours.
> Tours may include foreign nationals.
> On touring holidays internal flight tickets may be issued
locally.
> Owing to the amount of travelling involved, tours are
generally unsuitable for children and those with walking
difficulties.
> Local conditions can and do change, sometimes at short
notice and it is possible that changes may occur without
prior notification.
W
Water sports
> Water sports are subject to availability, maintenance and
weather conditions. Facilities may be temporarily
withdrawn without prior notification.
> Some hotels will have subcontracted the provision of
these sports and may have no control over the company
concerned.
> If instruction is required a charge may be made.
Weather
> During the months of August to October tropical cyclones,
referred to as typhoons, develop in the South China Sea,
producing high winds and torrential rains. Hong Kong and
The Philippines especially are subject to typhoons and
should your travel arrangements be affected by such
events, Jetlife will endeavour to provide practical support.
However, such occurrences are 'force majeure' and we
cannot accept any responsibility for matters arising therefrom.
> Tropical storms and hurricanes can, and do, occur
anytime in the Caribbean and parts of the United States.
Generally, these occur between June and November. See
'Know before you go' for further information.
> The Caribbean has a very agreeable climate year round,
with the summer heat and humidity tempered by the
tradewinds - a natural air-conditioner. The 'rainy season'
is generally considered to be during late summer though
the more mountainous islands tend to experience
rainfall all year. Other, low-lying islands are much drier,
escaping the regular rains and occasionally experiencing
water shortages
