In many parts of the States a car is not so much a luxury as a necessity. There is so much to see and a rental car will give you total freedom to explore and get the most from your dream American holiday.

We allocate a car to you based on the number of people travelling in your group, it is important however that you check the car descriptions below to verify that this car will be suitable for you and all your luggage. Cars are allocated as follows:

peace of mind in the USA costs less in the UK
Your rental includes unlimited mileage and the legal minimum of third party liability cover (Basic Rental). However, we strongly advise you to take out additional protection. Taking up one of the following options before you travel not only gives you financial protection throughout your stay, but also saves you money.

> Luggage Please make sure you study the car descriptions carefully and choose a grade of car suited to your requirements and the comfort of your party. As roof racks are not available, you need to take into account the size of your party and the amount of baggage you will be taking. If your boot won't hold your bags passengers may have to sacrifice elbow and leg room. Please also bear in mind that boot sizes in the USA are smaller than in the UK. Of course, if you are touring from place to place you will require luggage space which you may not need if you are taking day trips out based in a hotel.
> Safety Please note the wearing of seat belts is compulsory for all passengers. Child seats are
required by law for children aged 5 years and under and must be requested in advance. The
charge for a child seat is $6.99 per day, payable locally, and there's also a refundable deposit of
$50.
Also bear in mind that a child seat for an under 5 will take up the same space as a full seat.

When you drive an Alamo rental car, you can always rely on getting plenty of good advice and information plus an excellent back-up service if you have any problems. You will also have a 24 hour emergency telephone contact to provide roadside assistance and breakdown care should you need it.
save time with 'Direct Road'
If you are holidaying in the USA, Jetlife will include in your travel documents details on Alamo's Direct Road programme which will enable you to give Alamo your driving licence information and other details necessary for the completion of your rental agreement in advance. Simply pre-register your details before travel and save time upon arrival.
> Collecting & returning your car Alamo has a depot in the main terminal building at Orlando International airport and at other Florida airports provides a courtesy bus service from just outside the baggage hall direct to their nearby rental station. If your first night's accommodation is close to your arrival airport, you may prefer to collect your car the following morning. Taxi and airport bus services meet virtually all arrivals, or we can usually quote you the supplement for transfers on request. If you decide to pick up your car the day after arrival, we must be informed when you make your booking and we may also be able to arrange for you to collect your car at a more convenient downtown location. At the end of your holiday, you simply drop your car off at the rental station before being whisked to the airport.We recommend you allow at least 3 hours for your check in for the flight home.
> Mileage All rentals include unlimited free mileage.
> Maximum rental The minimum rental period is one day and the maximum for one rental agreement is 56 days.
> Deposit When you collect your car, a deposit of $100 per week, $25 per 24 hours, per car is payable by major credit card or cash to cover taxes, petrol and other incidentals.
> Driver requirements The minimum age for all drivers is 21 years. For drivers aged between 21 and 24 inclusive there's a surcharge of $25 per driver per day, payable locally. All drivers must be in possession of a return air ticket to the UK and a valid UK or EC drivers' license (which they must have held for at least one year) as well as a credit card in their name - an International Driving Permit on its own is not acceptable. There is a surcharge of $10 per day for each additional driver aged 25 years and over, payable locally.
> Car availability: If a car of the reserved size is not available, you will be given a free upgrade to the next larger size of car available.
> Driving areas Cars can be driven in any US State. Cars cannot be taken into Mexico or driven on unpaved roads.
> One way rentals All one-way rentals are subject to availability and must be booked in advance. There is no drop-off charge for one-way rentals between any two Alamo locations within Florida. Cars collected in Florida and dropped in any other state will attract a one-way drop-off fee payable locally (excludes economy cars).
> Rental periods Rental periods are based on 24-hour periods from the time you collect your car. Any late return will be charged at local hourly rates. Please carefully check that your rental period meets with your requirements.
> Local taxes Local, State and Government taxes are not included in the basic rental cost and are payable locally. The rate of tax varies from State to State, but is usually in the region of 4% - 13% of the rental cost. In some States, there's an additional State Environmental levy of approx. $1 - $4 per car per day, payable locally. If you opt for our Fully Inclusive Plan or Gold this will be included in the price.
> Airport user fees Some airport authorities impose a fee or tax on airport car rental companies for access to the airport. Where applicable, this will be added to the rental cost and is payable locally. Please ask for details of possible charges when making your booking. If you opt for our Fully Inclusive or Gold Plan this will be included in the price.
> Third party liability The legal minimum of $20,000 cover per car is included with rental cars. However, we strongly advise you to take out Extended Protection to increase this cover to $1,000,000 (included in our Fully Inclusive and Gold Plans)
> Collision Damage Waiver (CDW): With CDW you're completely covered against damage (including theft and vandalism) to your car no matter who is at fault, as long as the terms of the rental contract are not violated. Please note, however, that CDW does not include cover for third party liability. CDW is included in the Fully Inclusive and Gold Plans.
> Refunds We regret that no refunds can be given for car rental vouchers not used in their entirety.
> $1 million Liability Coverage (Extended Protection EP): EP provides you with up to US$1,000,000 third party liability coverage and $100,000 for uninsured motorist protection (UMP) for the renter and any family member, related by blood, marriage or adoption. For your peace of mind and financial protection our Fully Inclusive and Gold Plans include Extended Protection free of charge.
